General information
The trade fair CeBit* (Centrum für Büroautomation, Informationstechnologie und Telekommunikation) takes place every in March on the Hanover fair grounds. The CeBIT is the world wide biggest trade fair in informations- and communication technology. In the last years there were added many interesting branches to the CeBit, for example: IT infrastructure, business processes, internet, mobile solutions, banking, finance, TeleHealth, public infrastructure and many more. The target group on the CeBit are business managers from the industry, trade, banks, services and all vistors, which like the technology. On the CeBit everybody can exchange experiences, trends and see presentations.
In the last years visitors from circa 70 countries came to the CeBit. The most trade and profesional visitors came from the continents Europe, America and Asia. 70% of all visitors are trade and profesional visitors.(*1)
History of the CEBIT
In the early years of the CeBIT companies from the branche „office industry“came to the CeBIT. Later this branch developed to the IT and communication industry. In the year 1965 Heinz Nixdorf presented the first universal computer on the CeBit.
1970 the Deutsche Messe AG built the hall 1. The hall 1 is the biggest trade fair hall in the world. In the hall 1 2000 exhibitors are able to present their products. It has an exhibition space of 70.300 square meters. The growing CeBIT benefited needed this space to expand.
Since 1990 the CeBit oped to more and more branches and technologies, such as: client-server-computing, outsourcing, data warehousing, network technology and the internet.
