Trade fairs in Hanover: Ligna plus

General information

The world wide biggest trade fair in woodworking is the Ligna plus* in Hanover.(*1) The exhibitors come from all over the world to exchange experience and new information about this business.

On the Ligna plus many branches present their products. That are for example: foresty, energy, sawmill technology, woodworking, derived timber product, craft, wood, cabinet maker, carpentry, related materials, related equipment, related service, furniture industry.(*2)

Over 1.800 exhibitors present to over 107.000 visitors.(*3) The rate of trade and  professional visitors is 95 %. The most exhibitors come from this countries: Italy, Austria, Taiwan, Sweden, Switzerland and Germany.


History of the Ligna plus

Until 1975 the Ligna plus was a part from the Hanover Fair. In the last two decades the demand for wood products grew steadily.(*4)
1975 there was the first Ligna plus fair in Hanover, which takes  place all 2 years on the Hanover fair grounds.

1989 the LIGNA plus had over 1000 exhibitors. 50 % came from overseas. The total number of visitors from was 88.000.

Since 1991 companies used more and more computers in the forestry. 1991 the Ligna plus attained a new record with 122.000 square meters  exhibition space. They had over 100.000 visitors and 1.300 exhibitors.

2005 the "Handwerk, Holz & mehr" (handcraft, wood and more) was established in the Ligna plus. This is a sub trade fair for a specific target group. On the "Handwerk, Holz & mehr" (handcraft, wood and more) there are special presentations and shows.
